Insured catastrophe damage estimated at $31 billion

Global economic losses from natural and man-made disasters in the first half of 2020 amounted to $75 billion, according to the Swiss Re Institute's preliminary estimate. The figure is up from $57 billion for the same period last year, but well below the average economic losses in the first half of the previous 10 years ($112 billion).
